Treating Children and Adults with Osteopathic and Functional Medicine Approaches

Dearest Parent's

As much as you want to find the best path to health for your children and your family, I want to help you find it.  Most of my patients' parents say they wish they had found me and Cranial Osteopathy sooner.  They tell me they have cried; they have prayed; they have searched the internet; and they are tired, weary and scared.  I tell them that as a mother myself I understand; as a medical physician with a special gift in my hands I too get frustrated at trying to figure out how to let people know how I can help them.   I usually cheer them up by telling them about my 98 year old patient whom I helped get out of a nursing home with Cranial treatments.  The simple truth is though, "the younger the better."  When people ask me how young?  I tell them I am happy to treat newborns on the day of their birth.

Besides being a neurologist (a doctor who specializes in the brain and the nervous system), with a lot of training in psychiatry, I am an osteopathic physician who is trained in the holistic approach to healthcare, and more specifically in cranial osteopathy,  hands-on manual medicine.  Structure affects function and function affects structure, particularly in the developing and growing child.

The common thread in holistic, integrative and functional medicine is one of looking at the underlying health of the whole person:  a whole person has a unique environment, a certain diet and nutrition, is part of a family and is a physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual being.  Medical problems involve all of the above health factors.  Each one of us is born with a set of weaknesses and strengths and unless underlying, basic principles of health and well being are addressed we will continually be treating manifestations of un-well being.

In order to help you understand Osteopathy and how it can help your child, look at our section on Osteopathy and you will find definitions from several authoritative sources as one might speak to your understanding.  Then look at the Testimonials section so you can read the experiences of parents.  And if you are interested we even have a Scientific section so you can read some of the studies for yourselves.

Look up Who Can Be Helped section to learn more about your child's ailment and if Osteopathy and Dr. Devorah are for you.
